OUR IMPACT

Compassion Delivered is the only organization of its kind in Ohio that is focusing on the importance of food’s impact on the health of people diagnosed with chronic or terminal illness or disease. Launching as a meal delivery service focused on providing compassionate support for people coping with illness or diseases, we also recognize there is a science behind what we are doing and a measurable impact on our client’s quality of life.

The Journal of Primary Care and Community Health published a report that demonstrates the health benefits and cost savings of programs similar to Compassion Delivered. On average, monthly healthcare costs were 31% less and hospitalizations were cut in half compared to patients not receiving services. And a report conducted by the Bipartisan Policy Center noted that “practical services like meal delivery can make a difference in helping older people avoid flare-ups that can send them to the hospital.”

As we continue to grow our services to meet the increasing need for nutritional support, we are moving towards evaluating how Compassion Delivered improves the clinical outcomes for people with chronic conditions through assessment surveys to measure how they benefit from receiving free, healthy, meals.

Since 2017, we have delivered 35,000 meals across Stark County to both patients and their families or caregivers, providing them with not only nutritional support but also more time with one another, something which can never be regained.

Each week, we serve 55-65 spots, many of whom are new to the program, ultimately serving over 1,000 unique individuals each year. But it is still not enough as Stark County’s local health systems estimated that over 2,100 people need our services each year, including men, women, and children of all ages and income levels.

The impact we have on our community would not be possible without the support of our community of funders. Thank you to the following organizations for their financial investment in our mission:
